Initially I set up Fishmaven.net for both hobbyists and dealers. It's my
opinion that neither can exist independently. Dealers need good
customers to make a profit. Unless the dealer is making a profit the
hobbyist will rarely see new fish or new products. It's also my opinion
that a hobbyist that wishes to build a relationship with a dealer should
know how to be a GOOD customer. An advanced customer should be
aware of general dealer complaints and problems. A GOOD dealer should
be aware of the customer's comfort level and the reason the customer
has chosen to shop there. Please try to remember that in some matters
relationships are more important than price. The relationship becomes a balancing act when both are conscious of it but disappears when it's been naturally developed. Become someone the other would wish as a friend and small money differences will seldom be a problem.
Previously separated, within the site, I've now split the site into two separate domains.
Fishmaven.net will be for hobbyists that are looking for advice to improve their fishkeeping achievements: more fry, better looking aquariums, more colorful fish and possibly exchanging some of those fry or adults for the items they'd otherwise be forced to purchase.
Professionals such as dealers, wholesalers and breeders should avail themselves of Fishmaven.com. Free at the point, eventually the site will become a paid membership site, directed at tropical fish professionals, of all categories. Breeders, wholesalers, and retailers, will benefit from tips and advice to improve their sales, their selections and their stock.
